"Hello everyone! My name is Chris, I am 21 years old, and in the summer of 2018 I was involved in a serious car accident that resulted in traumatic brain injury. I was stopped at a red light and a car traveling in the opposite direction swerved into my lane, went airborne, and almost decapitated me.
My injuries were three skull fractures and four brain bleeds, including bleeding in my brainstem, and a collapsed lung. I was then hospitalized for 1 week and then transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation facility where I spent 2 and a half weeks regaining my physical and mental strength back.
Since then, I have returned to my capacity as a volunteer firefighter, returned to work as an emergency medical technician, and was able to return to college to continue to pursue my B.S. in Paramedicine.
To this day I still live with reminders of my horrible experiences in the past few months but I do not let them stop me in the way of my many accomplishments. I hope this brief telling of my story is able to inspire my fellow brain injury survivors!"
