Brain injury is one of the hard things to treat and pinpoint because it’s invisible. It’s also hard to explain the lived experience to other people because they can’t see it on the outside. And sometimes it’s hard to find the words to even explain how you were feeling and why you are feeling that way. At least for me, often times it’s the general sense of… I’m not right… I feel awful… But I can’t exactly figure out why, and I don’t exactly know what, but I just feel really bad all the time.
This week, I went to visit the Functional Neurology Center for another step on my brain injury recovery journey. My biggest take away this week was learning the root of why I have such bad headaches, why I feel overwhelmed, why my balance is off, and why I’m so fatigued all the time.
There are some very specific neurological things going on that Dr. Jeremy Schmoe was able to find, treat, and give me targeted exercises to work on. While I was there, I filmed everything and will be sharing video blogs over the next week or so detailing my experience.
