My Son is a Fighter - Angela's TBI Caregiver Story

March 27, 2019 by Hope After Head Injury Leave a Comment

“My son was 2 years old, 3 weeks shy of his 3rd birthday, when he fell from a 2 story patio and suffered a traumatic brain injury. He spent nearly 3 weeks in a medically induced coma before he woke up as a newborn baby again.

He has always been a fighter and and continues to be one everyday.

Of course he struggles, he's such a boy and wants to be physically and mentally better than all the kids his age. But he's kept with his peers athletically and actually just grown academically and has not needed the extra resource help at school.

Our biggest challenge is having to explain that he is not a "bad kid." He is just not always mentally aware. He can't always control his emotions. But he's become such an advocate for kids who are bullied because he feels that pain too.

But he's become such an advocate for kids who are bullied because he feels that pain too. He's my oldest child and I thank God everyday for allowing me to keep him.”
